iPad Garage Band, day one
Killing time on the plane. The auto instruments and arpeggiators make it dead simple to create stuff fast. I didn't say music, I said stuff.

Cold. So cold.
It's been a cold week here on the plains. It rained all week, but cleared up enough for the run yesterday. Now it's threatening rain again. Apparently we had a record low high at least one day. Yuck.

I had written "g" before, for no particular reason, but now that I've been playing with it again, it makes me think of cold. So, let's call it Cold Day.

So, here's the new version, extended with more stuff I'm learning in logic. Bouncing instruments to audio and messing with that, mucking up the tempo, plugging my electronic drum kit in the computer as a controller (that's loads of fun).

sketching
I've been sketching a bit more with Logic. One of these days I'll finish a song. I need to get into sampling stuff. These are just built in instruments.

The Runge Boys rock!

These are a couple of my cousins going crazy over Thanksgiving. You'll need headphones or really big speakers to hear the bass at all. .:.

I did it for the schwag
This American Life did a segment about break up songs. Somebody paid a pro to write her a break up song based on ideas kicking around in her head. They posted the music on-line and encouraged people to make their own versions.

Well, in exchange for sending in a mix, they're sending out schwag, so we took a crack at it. Amy singing, obviously, and I had a new orchestral sound set to try out, so that's the treatment it received. .:.

clicky one
I haven't recorded anything since we left for New York, even though I had the keyboard the whole time. I think the main reason may have been lack of space and, possibly even more important -- a keybaord stand...

Here's my first musical entry in nearly three years.

black notes
It's difficult to get any notes in while on a plane, but you can remix stuff you did weeks ago and forgot about.
